What is The Dorn Method ?
Dorn is a gentle and safe manual therapy focusing on the cause of Back and Joint Pain and can be used on people of all ages. The focus of The Dorn Method is to correct misalignments of the spine, pelvis and joints, which in turn help to relieve all the other associated problems which can occur when the body is out of balance.
It consists of a range of unique, gentle exercises and techniques developed to help joints and vertebrae slip back into their natural positions, easily and naturally, without clicking and crunching.
Can The Dorn Method help me ?
The Dorn Method is used to correct misalignments of the spine and other joints, targeting common health problems including:
- Back Pain
- Neck Pain
- Headaches and Migrains
- Joint Problems such as Hip, Knee, Shoulder, Elbow, Ankle, and Jaw
- Leg length difference
- Sciatica
What does a treatment involve ?
The corrections are made comfortably, whilst you are standing, sitting on a chair and laying on a massage couch. You may wish to remove some of your upper garments so that a small amount of oil can be applied to your spine to help with the treatment.
You will be asked to gently swing your legs and arms and turn your head from side to side in order to enable the gentle changes to take effect without the need for strong force. The pace and pressure is determined by yourself, there are no sudden jerky movements or manipulation and no heavy forces are involved, as the treatment works in complete harmony with the body. The movement helps to ‘distract’ muscles causing the joints to slip more easily into place. The treatment is often followed by a Breuss Massage, a relaxing massage focused purely on the spine.
The Method originates from Germany, founded by Dieter Dorn 40 years ago and is more than just a therapy, as by continuing the work with simple self-help exercises carried out at home, it becomes a long term, joint health maintenance and prevention system for people of all ages.
Described by one of my clients:
“I had an injury to one of my knees and although I’d had an operation to help, from time to time it would flare up and be really painful. The Dorn Method somehow lined everything up and I now no longer have any problems with my knees”
